One-dimensional photonic crystal for polarization-sensitive surface-enhanced spectroscopy

We realize and experimentally characterize a novel platform for surface-enhanced sensing through Bloch Surface Waves (BSWs). test one-dimensional photonic crystal, with high index inclusion in the top layer, that sustains surfaces modes with, principle, arbitrary polarization. This is achieved coherent superposition of TE TM dispersion relations BSWs, which can also provide superchiral fields over wide spectral range (down to UV). The resulting paves way implementation polarization-resolved techniques.
